A retired thoroughbred in training for his next career as a jumperThoroughbreds, like people, come in all shapes and sizes, each with a unique personality. All of the horses offered for adoption by Tranquility Farm have been well- rested and rehabilitated after racing, and we also offer horses that are young and unraced. Whatever their history, we provide the public with healthy, well-socialized horses that have been prepared physically and mentally to begin retraining for their next career.

RETRAINING GUIDE

A suggested program for doing some basic retraining with your adopted Thoroughbred is now available on our website, and we encourage all potential adopters to spend some time reading this text and preparing for the training that will be required to school your off-track or green horse for your chosen equestrian field. If you are a fit and experienced rider, aged teen to adult, we may have just the horse for you. Download retraining guide.

Tranquility Farm’s adoptable Thoroughbreds have had few experiences other than the racetrack or horse farm, and they are most successful with a steady, patient person who can start them in an arena-based program. If we know about your riding experience and your goals we may be able to suggest a compatible horse for you.

PASTURE PALS

Some horses at Tranquility Farm are pasture sound only, but they have loving personalities and greatly enjoy the friendship of people and other horses. These make wonderful companion horses, babysitters, and pets. There is no adoption fee for providing a home for a pasture pal; all that is required is other equine company, references, and a warm heart. To adopt a pasture pal, please complete our adoption application, read our adoption agreement, and email us with an idea of what you are looking for in a pasture pal.
